The 1st Malacca Monkey H3 Run Report – 14th April 2010
Prepared By : Spag Head and Speedy Gonzales.
DATELINE : MALACCA, MALAYSIA 14th April 2010.
The long awaited day for the 1st Malacca MONKEY H3 has finally arrived. What do today’s Hares Long Bean and Apache have in store for us? Ha Ha…..we’re very excited.
Without question, there will be hills, water, palm oil plantations, checks, false trails, back checks and many other elements of good Monkey hashing to be encountered.
Today’s pickup point is at a local, in town, Lotus with plenty of free secured parking. A large air-conditioned bus arrived with a well trained and properly licensed driver and 29 Monkey’s jump aboard. The 10K ride is comfortable and quick to the starting point. The Monkey’s have been properly feed during the ride with water and banana’s. Would you expect anything different than proper “Monkey Food”? Cocca, thanks for the Banana.
The first circle is called by the GM, Rasputin and with all, the Monkey’s being welcomed. The Pattaya Jungle Monkey founder, Jello Butt and the GM, Bam Bam present the Malacca Monkey H3 GM, Rasputin with a large Monkey H3 display banner, in recognition of the establishment of the Malacca Monkey H3. Many photos of this “Historical Event” are taken for the future verification and certification purpose, if needed.
The Hares explain the details of the trail marking and the Monkeys are off and running….within 50 meters the first hill is encountered. This is only a slight “speed bump” and a preview of things to come. Of course, the front runners (FRB’s), Ranger, Jello Butt, Govin, Water Liu Liu, and a visiting GM from Mantin Sang Watt plus others are already racing. Hashing is not a race Boys!!!!!
A couple notable short cutting bastards (SCB’s) – namely Dizzy, Cowboy, Andy, Lord Lucan and Spag Head are contemplating their first short out at the second hill to be encountered, but, simple logic overcomes pure stupidity and they continue the paper. This turns out to be one of the best choices they ever made as hashers.
A top the first hill (BS mountain), the check scatters Monkey’s in every direction of the compass. The true “OnOn” is found thru “barb wire fencing”. Panjang Heng found the paper, well done. All Monkey’s escaped without injury. The downhill portion now begins with many false trails, large logs, holes, rocks and wind blown paper to be navigated and/or found.
Safely downhill, true hashing trail running commences. The well marked, gently undulating trail is pleasant change from the tough mountain up and downs. The mountain views were fantastic but the shaded trails are a great relief from harsh rays of the sun.
Most Monkeys’s reached the first drink stop within 1.30hrs – 1.45hrs. The Monkeys do not stay here for long as the hares have arranged for every bugs, fly and mosquito to also occupy this area at the same time. Sang Watt, Jello Butt, Ranger, Cocca, Govin, GI Joe, Speedy, Collector, Cheetah and others, anxiously continue the next trails after losing the battle against the mosquitoes.
The second part of the trail has it ups and downs (meaning hills) exactly like the first section!!! But the hares have arranged a “Light and Water” show for some of us on top of the mountain – this includes booming sound effect – thunder, lightning and cool hard rain. After the rain, the short loop trail portion becomes a challenge for the tired Monkey.
Upon reaching the second water stop – which was only about 400m from the first, a nice dirt road surface helps the Monkeys sore legs and wet feet. The run ends shortly after the 2nd water stop if you consider 3K to 4K shortly thereafter.
The Hares have provided for a “customary” water wash area – as refreshing and most enjoyable “side benefit” of the Monkey run tradition!!!
After all Monkeys have returned and have been accounted for, washed, refreshed, and clothed - the circle begins. Very few Monkeys avoided the ice as the GM – Rasputin, Advisor – Speedy, HARES – Long Beans & Apache, Jello Butt, Lord Lucan and others took the circle and “tell the true stories”, lies, jokes and sang songs for everyone enjoyment and/or misgivings/sins. Also, everyone is looking for King Rat….where is he?
The circle concludes and all adjourn to the On-On Restaurant for a fabulous amount of food, cool beer and fellowship. A “certificate of Participation” is presented along with a special “Can’t Do, Don’t Do” patch for the completion of the Monkey Run #1 – Malacca, Malaysia.
THE HARES – Long Bean and Apache
With a tagline of Dangerous Hare, Malacca well known Long Bean and Apache with the supports from the famous 4896 and Lai Hitam, are to be congratulated for their efforts in setting the trail for the 1st Malacca Monkey H3 run. They have established the highest possible run standard of “10” for their hard work and dedication of Monkey traditions…..WELL DONE HARES!!! Jello Butt, the founder of Pattaya Jungle Monkey H3 claims that this is one of the best runs he ever done ever since he started hashing. Other Monkeys supports his statement as well.
A great time was enjoyed by ALL and thanks again! Good Luck to the Malacca Monkey H3 and looking forward for the next MALACCA MONKEY RUN # 2 on June, 05th 2010.
